Description
Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge is not only home to our resident giraffe, waterbuck and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys, but it is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on our expansive lawns.
With Sopa’s traditional and conscientious care for the environment, we carefully positioned all the buildings on our property so we did not have to fell any of the many trees there. As a result of this, we had to come up with a radically innovative and artistic design for the main public area building which now snakes its way between the trees with long and graceful curves.
The lodge features two swimming pools with a children’s section and a pool complex with its bar, snack kitchen, pizzeria and health spa; tennis court and two conference halls with their four differently sized meeting areas.
Accommodation
Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge has a total of 21 crescent-shaped cottages each containing four hotel rooms for a total of 84 rooms, all of which have panoramic views of the resort surroundings and the lake. The ground floor rooms have two queen size beds and a sunken living room, with floor-to-ceiling rounded glass windows, while the upper floor rooms have one king bed and their own private balcony from which to relax, sunbathe or view game. Non-smoking rooms are available, as well as 2 wheelchair rooms on the ground floor. All the luxuriously appointed Naivasha Sopa Lodge rooms are spacious and well furnished and offer guest the convenience of en-suite bathroom facilities.
All 84 rooms are tastefully furnished with mahogany coloured furniture, from the beds, side tables, dressing table, wardrobe, luggage rack and cabinet. As a contrast to the mahogany colour, the walls are peach in colour and the fabric used for curtains and bed linen, match perfectly including the carpet. The walls have paintings and locally woven sisal pieces placed in embedded concrete frames which form part of the wall. The rooms are spacious, airy and light due to floor-to-ceiling rounded glass windows and are equipped with mini bars, TV’s in 48 out of the 84 rooms, telephones and safes. The cottages are connected by brick walkways surrounded by lush gardens and you will come across zebras, giraffes, gazelles and monkeys meandering around the Sopa Resort grounds.
