JENMAN joins the Santa Shoebox Project

JENMN African Safaris and the Santa Shoebox Project have joined hands to give children from poor communities Christmas presents this December! The aim of the project is to fill a shoebox with educational toys, sweets, and goodies. Grow Africa Foundation is JENMAN African Safaris’ non-profit responsible tourism initiative. We get involved in community projects to make a positive impact!

Our company made 17 beautiful shoeboxes for the Santa Shoebox Project. The presents will be distributed to underprivileged kids in South Africa and Namibia. Santa Shoebox has already given away 551 979 boxes to date!

Each department at African JENMAN Safaris got together and pledged as many Santa Shoeboxes as they could. While it was for charity, it turned into a competition. Each team tried to make their shoe box the prettiest! Everyone was excited to know that they will be putting smiles on children’s faces. It was also a great team bonding experience.

The project not only gives the recipient child a personalised shoebox with daily necessities but it also instills a sense of self-worth. Every child is given items that they can use in school, at home for improved hygiene and dental health, and fun things like sweets and toys.

We feel big companies have the responsibility to give back as in South Africa many parents won’t be able to give their children anything for Christmas. And as the famous Suzelle says about the Santa Shoebox Project, “It is a very easy and creative way to make a little boy or girl feel very special.”

What’s the Santa Shoebox Project all about?

The Santa Shoebox Project originated in Cape Town in 2006 and collected 180 shoeboxes in its first year. In 10 years it has grown in leaps and bounds. Now the number of Santa Shoeboxes has reached a total of 551 979. The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1000 recipient facilities throughout Southern Africa.
