Explore Madagascar by Bicycles

The open road beneath you and the warm Malagasy wind at your back. Local children running up to greet you and what’s that, the long fuzzy tail of a lemur slipping around a branch? Experience this and more when cycling through the exotic island of Madagascar.

With such diverse landscapes, as well as flora and fauna of which up to 80 % isn’t found anywhere else in the world, exploring the country by bicycle is a brilliant way to experience its unique highlights. Whether it’s a cycling tour of the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga or an Andasibe Nature Reserve add-on excursion, find out more about the thrill of a Malagasy adventure on 2 wheels.

Our Head of Reservations, Amber Meyer, tried out the cycling experience in Andasibe and had the following to say:

If you are a cyclist on holiday this is definitely a great trip for you. There is some nice scenery along the route but the experience is more of a cycling adventure and the feeling of doing something different. Everyone was very impressed with the standard of the bikes. We were riding on some dirt roads so I was a bit nervous at first but it was actually completely fine.

There’s not much traffic on the roads around Andasibe and travellers get to experience the countryside in the open air instead of through the window of a car. It’s a slightly more authentic experience. The cycling trip to the Royal Hill of Ambohimanga is a pleasant meander through the area and is suitable for all fitness levels. Guests often call it the highlight of their trip.

If something catches your eye, it’s easy to stop and have a look and then carry on along your way. Cycling is also just one of life’s simple pleasures, many people associate it with the first taste of freedom and sense of accomplishment that they experienced as a child. A real whimsical and wonderful activity.

What are you waiting for, come and explore Madagascar on 2 wheels!
