Assisting the Hope Ignite Zimbabwe Trust

Grow Africa recently arranged the transport of 12 bicycles from Cape Town, South Africa to a women’s charity in Harare, Zimbabwe. The Grow Africa Foundation was able to do this free of charge through its partner Jenman African Safaris. The Cape Town office sent the bikes up with one of their vehicles and then the Vic Falls office took care of getting the bicycles to Harare.

The Hope Ignite Zimbabwe Trust is a Zimbabwean charity based in Harare that aims to help local women and young adults to find employment. They do this by providing workshops that either teaches the skills needed for employment or to start a business, which in turn will provide employment. As well as training, Hope Ignite offers a free crèche to enable the women with children to attend their workshops. The goal of the trust is to provide women with the means to gain financial stability.

The donation of the bicycles themselves were from the Pedal Power Association, in collaboration with the Soft Techniques Foundation.  Hope Ignite does additional work in the local community, where volunteers bring food packages and other support to families in need. The volunteers use the donated bicycles to help with these projects, cycling around and bringing joy to the families they visit. It’s always wonderful when people can work together to help others.

This has been an excellent example of collaboration between three different groups with a single goal: assisting the Hope Ignite Zimbabwe Trust and making a positive impact in a community. The Pedal Power Association is a Public Benefit Organisation committed to promoting cycling and the interests of cyclists, the Association uses their profit-share received from the annual Cape Town Cycle Tour to support cycling-related initiatives like this one. Soft Techniques is a non-profit organisation specializing in developing individuals through focused skills training.

The Grow Africa Foundation is dedicated to assisting and improving the conditions of the places and communities of the destinations that JENMAN African Safaris travels to.
