Being a specialist on the ground as a tour operator and running Hideaways’ eco-lodge Elephant’s Eye, Hwange, we are witnessing a lot of change in the country. In 2019, the company celebrates 21 years, a reason as good as any to present a refreshing look of our annual brochure and reflect on political changes that promise a new era for Zimbabwe and inspiring new travel trends.
In late 2017, with the positive political shift in Zimbabwe, a new catchphrase was created: ‘Rise Zimbabwe”. JENMAN Safaris has its roots in Zimbabwe and we have been an ambassador for safari experiences in the country for over a decade.
The new president (as of March 2018), Emmerson Mnangagwa, has highlighted tourism as a driving force to revive the economy. Several measures have already been put in place to ease up travel to and in the country such as the lifting of visa restrictions and the appointment of a new Tourism Minister.
A variety of international airlines are now flying into the newly built airport of Victoria Falls and the industry has awakened to re-discover Zimbabwe. Investment into tourism infrastructure has been going strong and the international press is commenting about new opportunities and intriguing wildlife and cultural experiences in alluring Zimbabwe, putting the country back onto the best travel destination lists.
Rise Zimbabwe & Zimbabweans – working together with industry partners, travellers and competitors to share the country’s spirit
Above all ‘Rise Zimbabwe’ also means ‘Rise Zimbabweans’; community upliftment projects and a focus on wildlife conservation is at the heart of JENMAN’s operation. Only together with our industry partners, clients and competitors can we make Zimbabwe great again and share the country’s spirit with the world. Discover our bespoke Zimbabwe experiences and new guided group tours in this brochure. Grow Africa, our foundation, will give an insight into the meaningful and much-needed work within our communities and wildlife areas. Visitors to the country will now be able to experience first-hand the exuberance and amazing momentum that is revealing one of Africa’s best-kept secrets.
As much as Africa enthusiasts are looking for ‘up and coming’ destinations, a trend of the recent years also shows the need to slow travel down. Travellers are looking for more intimate and slower-paced experiences. Answering this travel trend, we are enthusiastic to launch JENMAN Safaris’ new product range, JENMAN Select.
Jenman Select offers personalised itineraries aimed at the high-end traveller focusing on exclusive travel experiences in strategic key areas and remote locations in Southern Africa, East Africa, and Madagascar (think: interactive involvement, sleep-out experiences, tree houses, walking safaris, etc.). Travel ideas in the Jenman Select category are presented with exceptional service stemming from our company’s long-standing expertise in these destinations with our agents and travellers. In each itinerary, we will include a conservation focus; we do believe that by slowing travel down, allowing guests alternative experiences and more time at a destination enables us to share Africa’s story and the positive impact photographic safaris and our travellers continue to make.
“The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa – for he has so much to look forward to.”
Sincerely,
Katja and Garth
