It’s Nice in Knysna

During your stay in Knysna you can do many things. Take a ferry across the lagoon or do the sunset cruise ride which is highly recommended. If you are more into animals, don’t worry, there are many game parks or animal parks around like the Knysna Elephant Park, the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve, Monkeyland and many others. From June to October you also have the chance to see some whales.

Take your partner, family or friends and enjoy a delicious dinner and drinks at your ride into the beautiful sunset. The featherbed company offers various tours to good prices.

Furthermore you can either relax at the beautiful and wide beaches like buffalo bay, Goukamma or, if you are keen on sports, hike the famous featherbed nature reserve, the wide forests or go kayaking on the Knysna River or diving and snorkelling at the Paquita.

If you are an adrenaline junky, you can also drive to Tsitskamma Nature Reserve and do the bungee jump from the world’s highest bungee jump bridge, called Bloukrans bridge. It is 216 meters high and became Africa’s first bungee jumping bridge in 1990.

The company face adrenalin offers jumps for young and old. Some people say that the worst moment is probably the walk to the jumping point, where you have to walk in 216 meters high over a gate with open grids, so that you can see the deep scary ground directly under you. Once you finally arrived at the platform, it is not that worse anymore. There will be a big party, loud music and a lot of people who keep you motivated. So be brave and just jump!

Two of our interns had the great possibility to visit the Knysna Elephant Park for an educational trip. It was an awesome experience for them; they got in touch with Elephants, could feed them and walk with them. This is an adventure for the whole family and an experience you will never forget.

The elephant park was founded in 1994 and is home of 10 rescued elephants that came from circus, zoos or bad animal husbandry. Today it is a 60ha big park, while the African Elephant Research Unit (AERU) is doing research and the visitors can have unforgettable experiences.
